Neem for You

Neem oil has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and insecticidal properties and, as such, neem based remedies have brought relief from the irritating symptoms of many common ailments such as head lice, athlete’s foot, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, acne, rashes, cold sores, dandruff and itchy scalp conditions, ringworm, scabies, shingles to name just a few.

Neem is rich in fatty acids and glycerides and, together with its healing properties, provides an excellent natural moisturising base for skin care formulations such as soaps, shampoos and skin preparations enabling many people to enjoy relief with products which avoid the use of prescription medicines and chemical treatments.

Head Lice

Head lice – the unwanted visitors every parent dreads. We spend millions of dollars every year on chemicals in an effort to rid our children of head lice. But the little critters must be mocking our efforts for they have defeated most of what the chemist can throw at them. Where insects are exposed to poisons, as lice have been for many years, a resistant population emerges.

Also, in an effort to rid our children of these parasites, there are risks associated with the use of highly toxic insecticides. These include skin irritation, asthma attacks, burning sensations and even seizures.

Winning the war, naturally …

Neem oil is a safe, natural vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the neem tree and has been highly regarded since ancient times for a variety of therapeutic purposes including treating skin diseases but also as a natural insect repellent/pesticide.

Neem has been shown to rid the body of head lice in three very important and distinct ways. First of all, Neem contains hormone mimics that interfere with the life cycle of parasites. Secondly, Neem inhibits the parasites’ ability to feed, giving rise to the term anti-feedant. Finally, and very importantly, Neem prevents louse eggs from hatching.

Treatment

Massage PURE NEEM 100% neem oil into the scalp and hair shortly before bathing. If preferred, dilute the neem oil with an equal amount of olive or coconut oil. Make sure every hair is coated. Leave oil on the hair/scalp for 5 - 10 minutes. Apply a liberal amount of PURE NEEM head lice conditioner to the hair to assist with detangling. Then, use a fine tooth comb to comb the hair and, after each sweep from roots to tips, wipe the combings onto a tissue. Repeat this many times until the whole head has been combed at least twice and little treatment oil is visible on the hair.

Wash and condition with PURE NEEM head lice shampoo and conditioner.

The shampoo and conditioner can be used every day (neem oil is very beneficial to the hair and scalp) but repeat the oil treatment 3 times in a two week period.
Wash all bed linen thoroughly and iron pillow cases. Wash hair brushes and combs in hot soapy water.

Using PURE NEEM head lice shampoo & conditioner regularly for all the family helps to keep the hair healthy. It may also help prevent re-infestation with lice.

Alternatively, add PURE NEEM 100% neem oil to your existing shampoo and conditioner at the rate of 5-10ml per 100ml of product.

Head Lice Spray Concentrate can be used to spray hair daily. It can also be sprayed into school caps/hats and bicycle helmets, etc.

Eczema

Eczema is a recurring, non-infectious, inflammatory skin condition. The skin becomes red, dry, itchy and scaly. Although the exact cause of eczema is unknown, it appears to be linked to such triggers as food allergies, chemical food additives, stress, irritants (such as tobacco smoke, chemicals) and allergens such as house dust mites, moulds, pets, soaps, shampoos, washing powders, cosmetics and toiletries.

See your doctor in the first instance if you suspect that you or your child has eczema as formal diagnosis of eczema can only be carried out by a doctor or specialist. While there is no test to determine whether a person has eczema, tests may be conducted to rule out other possibilities.

The goal of treating eczema is to heal the skin and to both prevent and minimise flare-ups. This can be done by using a moisturiser to prevent the skin from cracking or itching and to offer relief. Well moisturised skin also helps block out germs that cause infections.

PURE NEEM hydrating body oil contains only pure, natural, cold pressed oils with no added water. This means no unnecessary emulsifiers and preservatives and a lesser probability of skin irritation. A small amount (1%) of rosemary leaf extract has been added to the formulation as an antioxidant.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a non-contagious inflammatory skin condition. It causes red, scaly patches to develop on the skin. These areas are most common on the scalp, elbows and knees, but can occur on any area of the body. Skin affected by psoriasis grows much quicker than normal skin. There is no cure for psoriasis but it can be controlled with treatment and one of the natural treatment options is to regularly moisturise the skin.

All creams and lotions are an emulsion made from combining water with a selection of oils, butters and other ingredients. If there is water in the formulation, it introduces the need for two potentially unnatural products – emulsifiers and preservatives - to mix the oils and water and to prevent moulds and yeasts from forming. These emulsifiers and preservatives can cause irritation to sensitive skin.

PURE NEEM hydrating body oil is a truly natural moisturiser, with no added preservatives or emulsifiers – and no water – why pay for water? We have added a small amount of rosemary leaf extract which is an antioxidant to prevent the oil becoming rancid.

The cold-pressed neem oil in PURE NEEM hydrating body oil contains high concentrations of Vitamin E, glycerides and essential fatty acids giving this oil anti-inflammatory, moisturising, rejuvenating and healing properties. The oil blend also contains other carefully selected essential oils known for their restorative and regenerative properties to create an intensive skin nourishing, deeply moisturising and restoring body oil.
