Traditional cultures believed that certain foods were necessary to prevent blindness.  Our ancestors intuitively knew that eyes support eye health. Now, modern science knows that the richest source of vitamin A in the entire animal body is that of the retina and the tissues in the back of the eyes.

The ways of our ancestors have been carried down through many generations and are still being practiced today. Across the globe. In many cultures, eyes are, considered a delicacy.

NUTRIENTS

Beef Eye contains Vitamin A, also known as retinol, because of its presence in the retina of the eye.  Vitamin A plays a crucial role in supporting our vision by maintaining a clear cornea and allowing us to see in low light conditions. Retinol is one of several fat-soluble activators necessary for the assimilation of minerals in the diet. Its many functions include forming and maintaining healthy teeth, skin, mucous membranes, skeletal and soft tissues. It also plays a role in protein utilisation.  Beef Eye provides eye specific peptides only available from eyes.  Beef Eyes are also a source of Lutein and Zeaxanthin, that can be found in the macula and retina of your eyes, where they help filter blue light to protect your eyes from damage. They improve visual acuity and scavenge harmful reactive oxygen species. Several studies suggest that these carotenoids prevent cataracts and the progression of advanced macular degeneration. [8]

Zinc is found in organ meats such as Beef Eye and is an essential trace mineral, or "helper molecule", that plays a vital role in bringing vitamin A from the liver to the retina in order to produce melanin, a protective pigment in the eyes. Zinc is highly concentrated in the eye, mostly in the retina and the vascular tissue layer under the retina called the choroid. Certain symptoms of Impaired vision, such as poor night vision and cloudy cataracts, have been linked to a zinc deficiency.[10]. The most abundant whole food sources of zinc you can find are wild and pastured animal meats.

Whole Brain supports the survival of existing neurons and encourages the growth of new neurons, it contains the goodness of the pituitary, hypothalamus, and pineal glands, rich in brain derived neurotrophic growth factors (BDNF) and peptides.  The cell membranes of your retina contain a high concentration of DHA, a long chain omega-3 fatty acid that promotes healthy retinal function. These omega-3 fats from Whole Brain are able to be used by the cells of our eyes, they also have anti-inflammatory properties, increase proper blood flow and support the eyes in producing more tears. Omega-3s are essential in maintaining overall health. They are found in every cell in your body and help regulate biological functions, including those of the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, and nervous systems.

"DHA is the primary structural fatty acid in the gray matter of the brain and the retina, so it makes sense that a diet rich in DHA, may help slow the degeneration of the retina, including macular degeneration, the most common form of blindness in older people." -Dr. Ann Bajart, MD [9]. DHA is a unique essential nutrient for neural and visual development. If you want to feed your eyes, (and your brain!) you should be sure to get plenty of DHA in your diet. The highest concentrations of DHA are found in Grass Fed Brain and Wild Fish Eggs.

Whole Bone Matrix is loaded with specialised cells (stem cells & base cells), collagen, growth factors, calcium & phosphorus in the right ratio that the body uses to build and repair its own bones.  Research indicates a connection between bone health, specifically bone mineral density (BMD), and cognitive function, with low BMD potentially increasing the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Studies suggest that factors related to bone regulation and function, such as the bone-derived hormone osteocalcin, may influence brain development and cognitive processes.

Studies have shown that lower BMD is associated with cognitive impairment and an increased risk of dementia, particularly in older adults. Osteocalcin, a hormone produced by bone, can cross the blood-brain barrier and influence brain development and function. It can promote the birth of new neurons and the synthesis of neurotransmitters, suggesting a role in cognitive processes. There's evidence of a bidirectional relationship between the brain and bone, with the central nervous system influencing bone remodelling and bone-derived molecules acting on the brain.

The mechanisms underlying the connection between bone health and cognition are still being investigated, but they may involve the influence of bone-related peptides and hormones on brain activity and neuro-degeneration.  Understanding the link between bone health and cognition may lead to new strategies for preventing or managing cognitive decline, as maintaining bone health might be a modifiable factor in preserving cognitive function.

Several supplements can support eye health, bone health, and cognitive function. These include omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins D and B12, Specific supplements like those containing DHA, vitamin D3, and K2 are marketed for supporting both cognitive function and bone health. Vitamin D is important for calcium absorption. Vitamin K2 works with vitamin D to ensure calcium is deposited in the bones rather than arteries.  Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium and vitamin K2 helps “direct” the calcium to the bones. Besides beneficial to the bones, vitamin K2 protects against calcium from accumulating in soft tissues, such as blood vessels and kidneys.  Lutein and Zinc found in the retina and macula, these carotenoids help filter harmful blue light and protect against age-related macular degeneration
